Last night, I sang the role of Micaëla from the ever so popular Carmen. The performance was not only sold-out, we added two rows to the front of the house, and three rows in the wings. I was so glad to see such enthusiasm from the community, and had such a fun time being a part of the inaugural performances with the Kingwood Summer Opera.

Last year I won 1st place in the Lois Alba Aria Competition, and this year, I am their guest artist for the Grand Finals Concert. I will be performing the beautiful Violetta/Germont duet from Verdi's Act II of La Traviata, as well as Marguerite's playful aria from Gounod's Faust. It feels wonderful to give back to an organization that has been so generous to me.

Today, I sang the soprano solos in Handel's Messiah with the Mid-Texas Symphony. It was a thrilling experience to again perform with this stellar orchestra under the baton of Maestro David Mairs. A chorus member came up to me after the performance, and said they could tell I was communicating the story just from the movement in my shoulders, and that they wished they could have been in the audience to see my face. I love this work, and was blessed to be a part of it. Happy Holidays, everyone!

There are six new recordings uploaded to the media page. I am joined by the talented Gail Hintz at the piano. Recordings include the desperate plea of Pamina's Ach, ich fühls from Die Zauberflöte, Fiordiligi's feisty Come scoglio from Così fan tutte, Micaëla's courageous Je dis que rien ne m'épouvante from Carmen, Arabella's expression of love in Das war sehr gut, Ellen Orford's haunting memories in the Embroidery Aria from Peter Grimes, and Magda's opening showstopper Chi il bel sogno from La Rondine.

This past weekend, I took 1st place in the Lois Alba Aria Competition!! On Saturday, I was one of 38 national semi-finalists, and sang Arabella's aria "Das war sehr gut," and Donna Anna's aria "Non mi dir." I was one of 12 finalists chosen to compete again on Sunday afternoon, and was humbled to take the top prize. All of my colleagues sang beautifully, and I was proud to share the stage with them. I was told by the judges that my "peace" is what made the difference. :)

As things wind down from a successful Sheldon Concert, I am left with fond memories and a heart full of love. I am overwhelmed with gratitude, and it was an honor to perform for such a friendly audience. Thank you to everyone who helped in making the Sheldon Recital so special: Mu Phi Epsilon for hosting a delicious reception, all of my volunteers and sponsors whom without their generous hearts, the evening would not have been possible, and everyone in the audience whose smiles embraced me as I walked onto the stage. Thank you!

| "An Olde English Christmas" with the Mid-Texas Symphony - December 14th, 2009 |
| After winning the 2009 Mid-Texas Symphony Young Artist Competition last March, I had the wonderful opportunity of being featured as their guest soloist this past weekend for the Mid-Texas Symphony holiday concert "An Olde English Christmas." The concert was a huge success! I was humbled to share the stage with such a talented orchestra led by a sensitive conductor, a huge adult chorus, and a children's choir of 100+ elementary school students from the Greater Sequin Area. What a true blessing it was, and I look forward to future collaborations with Maestro David Mairs. |
